Lauren Healy - English & Performance Company
My family has always been deeply involved in this school. My parents attended the school back in the 70's and 80's, they both came back to teach here once they graduated from college, and then I graduated from this school myself in 2008. I should have known that I would end up working here eventually! I have always been passionate about theatre and storytelling (thanks to Gwen Mansfield, my former teacher), and I knew that I would be happy as long as it was a part of my life in some way. Even though I desperately tried to choose a career that was different than the ones that my parents chose, I couldn't deny that I was called to teach and share my passions with students.
After graduating high school, I attended Seattle Pacific University, where I received my BA in Theatre Education as well as teaching endorsements in Theatre and English in 2012. I then spent a year interning, apprenticing, and teaching for the Education Department at Seattle Children's Theatre, as well as substituting in various classrooms in the Mukilteo and Northshore School districts. Then, in 2013, I journeyed back to Bremerton to direct Performance Company and teach 9th and 10th grade English here at Crosspoint. I love getting to work in a place that had such an impact on me as a student, and I am excited about the opportunity to share my passion and excitement with students myself.
